Dark Match

Sami Callihan defeated Sonjay Dutt

The crowd was going absolutely bizurk chanting “ROH” at the top of the show. Jim Cornette immediately came out and said tonight things were going to change. He said a of recent weeks ROH and HD Net starter the Pick Six Series. He said that series was going to be killed. He said they also started a top ten for the World TV title and a top 7 for the World Tag Team titles. There will now be a top ten for the World Heavyweight title rather than a pick six. It will run like rankings do rather than competing for Pick six numbers. As this was said “The Olympic Gold Medalist” Kurt Angle made his way down to the ring. The crowd was going nuts chanting “Angle”. Kurt Angle told Jim Cornette he has made his way to ROH, and tonight he was here to tell Cornette one thing. He wanted to start from the bottom. He said a lot of people in the NWA and the WWA hadn’t taken him seriously. Kurt said for months he busted his ass in Japan defending one of the best titles in the land the WWA All Asian Championship. Kurt said wrestling had lost meaning in North America, but in ROH things were different. He said it was about the competition and not about the brown nosing. Jim Cornette said he understood so he would put Angle in the opening match against a guy who is on the verge of the ROH World Television Championship rankings, “Triple Threat” Jimmy Anderson!

Match 1

“The Olympic Gold Medalist” Kurt Angle Vs. “Triple Threat” Jimmy Anderson

Angle would come into this match and control it. He would take the match to the mat and almost make Anderson tap on numerous occasions. However Anderson would try and fight back only to get hit with the “Angle Slam” for the 3 count and Kurt Angles opening debut win in ROH.

Winner : “The Olympic Gold Medalist” Kurt Angle

Following the match Kurt told Sami Callihan that he defeated Sonjay Dutt tonight, and that means next week it would be Sami Callihan taking on Kurt Angle on HD NET!

Match 2

The Dark City Fight Club Vs. Erick Stevens and Joey Ryan of the Embassy w/ Prince Nana

Prince Nana did everything to try and ensure a win for Ryan and Stevens during this match. However, Necro Butcher came out and he was not happy, he went right after Prince Nana causing distractions for Joey Ryan as the Dark City Fight Club would steal a win.

Winner : The Dark City Fight Club

Match 3

“The Franchise” Shane Douglas, Austin Aries, and Steve Corino Vs. Delirious, Christopher Daniels, and Kenny Omega

This was a tough six man tag, Douglas, Aries, and Corino played the Heels and meshed very well together. However Delirious and Daniels were a great team on the mat and in the air. Kenny Omega did the bruiser work and this was a great six man tag battle. However Aries hit a brain buster onto Delirious to pick up the win for his team.

Winner : “The Franchise” Shane Douglas, Austin Aries, and Steve Corino

Match 4

Jerry Lynn Vs. “Skull Krusher” Rasche Brown

This was a very skilled match on both ends. Jerry Lynn wanted everybody to see he still had it in his and the “Skull Krusher” wanted very much to win the World Television Championship. However tonight wasn’t either mans night as they wrestled to a time limit draw.

Winner : Time Limit Draw

Match 5

The American Wolves Vs. The All Night Express w/ Austin Aries

The Wolves were former World tag champs and that’s how they won this match up, due to Aries trying to help his team cheat for the win thus causing the Wolves to win.

ROH World Heavyweight Championship

Roderick Strong © Vs. Nigel McGuinness Vs. Tyler Black

This was a battle that a lot of people had been looking forward to. Nigel returned home to ROH only to work his way back to the top. Black was trying to regain his ROH Championship, and Roderick Strong was trying to retain something that took him this long to snag. Nigel would hit Roderick with the “Tower of London” getting the pin fall.

Winner : Nigel McGuinness NEW ROH WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION

Following the match Tyler Black went nuts. He said Nigel didn’t beat him so he isn’t rightfully the champion. Black told McGuinness he was so sure he could beat him that next week he’d put spot in ROH against his World title. The match was set up and the credits rolled.
